Nothing is perfect, and it seems even the Sony PlayStation 3 which can survive 108 hours of torture through freezer vans and sizzling sauna has instances when it fails. (Read More) |

I saw this earlier on QJ.NET where most people slated the article for trying to sensationalize the fact that 1 PS3 has failed compared to the thousands of 360s which suffered the renowned `ring-of-death`. It sounds to me that there may be a malfunction with the hard drive. It has been speculated that the user either turned his PS3 off during a firmware update or suffered a power cut whilst the PS3 was writing to the hard drive. Either way, the Hard Drive is fu(ked. Giving the fault the title of `Yellow-Light-Of-Death` is a bit too much IMHO. According to the user manual the yellow light will show up if the PS3 is overheating. Perhaps this is why the PS3 is not allowing him to switch it on. Unlike the XBOX, the PS3 will try to protect itself from overheating. Edited by MrGrey, Jan 21 2008, 04:02 PM.

if you listern to the bleeps, and then listern to your ps3 bleep, 2 bleeps means the ps3 is restarting. i have read that ps3's can sometimes get stuck in restarting mode. also, when the ps3 starts up, it reads data from the hard drive, i think his hard drive is toast. could there be a power falt some where? |
